Hi, I’m Maya Reyes

I am the creator and voice behind Bonita Rooms. I live in a 580-square-foot rental apartment in Austin, Texas, that I have been slowly transforming for the past two years without drilling forbidden holes or losing my security deposit.

Why I Started Bonita Rooms

When I moved into my first solo apartment after college, I had $300 in savings, a secondhand bed frame, and no idea how to make a tiny room look intentional. Every time I searched Pinterest or Google for advice, I landed on articles assuming I owned a 3,000-square-foot home, had $5,000 for a single room, or could knock down walls.

None of it spoke to renters. None of it spoke to people working with real paychecks.

I started Bonita Rooms to build the exact resource I wished existed back then: an honest, budget-first home decor guide for real people in small spaces.
